Just a reminder: I will be giving a reading at the Steampunk World’s Fair in “Library of Lost Literature” at noon on Sunday, which will include a sneak peak at what’s in store for Fables of the Flying City.

And I have quite a lot in store…

FABLES OF THE FLYING CITY Preview At The Steampunk World’s Fair

May 13th, 2010, posted in Appearences, Fables of the Flying City

Yes, despite my previous assertions that I will not be at the Steampunk World’s Fair, they have recently invited me to give a reading. And if you are me, you cannot pass up an opportunity to give a reading inside a  “Library of Lost Literature.”

I am told that is merely a small reading lounge s right off the main hotel lobby, sponsored by Weird Tales. But I am preferring to let my imagination run wild a bit.

I will be there at 12 noon on Sunday, reading a bit of what I will be reading at the Fables of the Flying City Launch at Balticon. So if you’re chompin’ at the bit to see what this podcast will be all about, that there’s the place to get a sneak peak.

I will also be reading from things that I will not be reading at the Launch. So there’s that, too.

While JR and I will probably be not as well-dressed as we were  in the above picture taken at the Mütter Ball (Curio Theatre still has my good stuff), I’ll do my best to look the part. What does some one wear to give a reading in a “Library of Lost Literature,” at noon on a Sunday? The good cufflinks, obviously…

And for those keeping score: Countdown to Launch: T minus 12

Your Last Chance To See TWELFTH NIGHT Is Fast Approaching!

May 12th, 2010, posted in steampunk, theater

T his weekend is the last of the Curio Theatre’s steampunk TWELFTH NIGHT performances.

I know, I know. You’d thought it would go on forever. So did I.

But all good things must come to an end, and gorgeous productions of classic theater is no exception. So if you haven’t seen the show, or want to see it again, now’s the time. Thursday, Friday, Saturday. After that, the beauty, she disappears. Curio will knock down their wondrous stage, return the costumes and props I loaned them, and start rehearsing another show.

This weekend is it, people. See it now or see it not at all.

Actually, that’s not quite true, is it? For the Curio Theatre, in their infinite wisdom, has compiled a souvenir program filled with photographs of the cast the inestimable Kyle Cassidy, and yes, writing by yours truly. The costumes, made by Mayfaire Moon, Feisty Diva, Donna Ricci, Aetna Gallaghe, myself and others, have never looked better:
Twelfth Night Suvenir Program: Sir Toby and Sir Andrew

Twelfth Night Suvenir Program: Orsino & Oliva

As Mr. Cassidy himself has said: “Simply possessing it will add a +4 to your steampunk street cred, and your friends will find you smarter and more attractive.”

Several people have approached me with a desire of creating their own steampunk outfits, but have no idea where to start. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a good an inspiration book as you are likely to find.

You can buy one online through Curio’s ticket office, or get one at the door when you come see the show.

It will look fantastic next to your difference engine.

With all this talk about future projects, I find I have neglected a current one: Last weeks’ ALL WRITE by Natalie Metzger and myself over at I Should Be Writing. If you ever wanted to see how Natalie draws the cast of STAR WARS, look no further:

The battle continues this week, with Waugh being less than diplomatic:

Need a refresher on what’s going on? Well, that’s what the complete archive is there for!
